  "x_description": "This dataset contains two computed values F1 and F2 for the magnetotail flux, where the modified procedure from Petrinec and Russel [1996] and Shukhtina et al. [2009] are used. Input parameters for magnetotail fluxes are from the Cluster magnetic field data and from the OMNI database. Parameters from the OMNI database (Interplanetary magnetic field, dynamic pressure, static pressure, SYMH index) are propagated by the convection time to the Cluster 1 X coordinate. Merging electric field is defined as Em=v*Bt*sin(theta/2)^3, where v is the solar wind velocity, Bt=sqrt(By^2+Bz^2), and theta is the IMF clock angle. Static pressure is equal to Pstat=Bsw^2/(2MU)+Nsw*k*Tsw, where Bsw, Nsw and Tsw are the IMF amplitude, solar wind density and temperature, respectively. Magnetotail flux is F1=0.5*pi*Rt^2*abs(Bl-Bigrf), where Rt is the computed tail radius, Bl is the lobe magnetic field and Bigrf is the IGRF field which is computed using the software package Geopack_2005.for. Magnetospheric flux F2=0.5*pi*R2^2*abs(Bl-Bigrf), where R2 is the radius of the surface inside the magnetopause Time resolution (when satellites are in the magnetotail) is 5 minutes, and Cluster parameters are averaged over 5 minutes intervals. Region quality flag demonstrates in which plasma region the magnetic flux is computed. The flag value 5 is for the tail lobes, 4 is for the boundary region, 3 for the outer plasma sheet, 0 for the plasma sheet (including the neutral sheet) and for the undefined region.  If the region quality flag is not an integer number, it means that Cluster passes through different regions. Data with a flag value< 2.8 is rejected. Quality flag for X-coordinate is 1 if Cluster is tailward of -11Re, while it is 0 if Cluster is Earthward of -11 Re. Quality flag for Y-coordinate is 1 when X< -10 Re and abs(Y)< 10 Re; it is also 1 when X> -10 Re and abs(Y)< abs(X). It is 0 when X< -10 Re and abs(Y)>10 Re. Also, it is 0, when X< -10 Re and abs(Y)>abs(X). Quality flag for Z-coordinate is 1 when abs(z) > 10 Re; it is 0 when abs(z) is between 5 Re and 10 Re and it is -1 when abs(Z)< 5 Re. The disturbance quality flag is 1 if SYMH> -20 nT and is 0 if SYMH<-20 nT Magnetotail fluxes are computed for the period when Cluster is in the magnetotail, i.e from July to October.
